About

My name is Sebastian Pinaud De Zubiria. The Pinaud part of my name comes my father’s family, while my mother’s side is De Zubiria. I usually drop the De Zubiria part cause my mother’s family is the human personification of the town from Footloose. No fun. My father’s family houses printmakers, photographers, poets, and trapeze artists. Therefore, I usually go by Sebastian Pinaud. I was born and raised in Cartagena, Colombia; before it became a tourist trap. Now I have to fight Europeans and Americans to score the good AirBnBs whenever I come back to visit.

I am an artist, designer, and educator. I went to NYU for a BFA in Studio Art and stayed on to get an M.A. in Art Education. Since then I’ve been spreading the word of socially conscious art that seeks to effect change rather than enable complacency.

I currently live in Mexico City, Mexico with my pitbull Apollo, my shepherd-mix Oscar, and my partner Leah, who, despite never having been to art school, draws much better than me.
